If it's on the wall, it's a tapestry. If it's on the floor, it's a rug. If it's wrapped around someone, it's a...dress?!

So, in an example of highly effective advertising, a Nordstrom ad for dresses caught my eye; in particularly, this gorgeous dress;

It just looks like Spring, so sweet and pretty. And only $156 (US) - practically the same in $AUS, the dollar is so high...

This one makes me wish for warmer weather, but at $425, it's not as tempting as the above.

I'm not sure, however, if some of them were meant to look like they were wearing tapestries:

This one's kind of cute, but still has the 'I could hang this on my wall instead - instant art!' look.

A further click around the site revealed that their day dresses leave much to be desired. This, for example, looks like a nightie, something Wendy might have worn to Neverland.

This just looks like a pinafore - as in, school uniform - but admittedly has potential. The colour is appealing. Maybe Carrie could get away with it...in heels, of course.

I like this one; it's simple but chic. Makes a nice LBD, but it would be more summery in another colour, say a bright shade of yellow.

And also...would anyone actually wear this to homecoming or prom...or ever?!

It could be nice, I suppose, if it didn't look like she was wearing a jungle.

Speaking of dresses...I'm on the prowl for a sweater dress, because I agree with the Clothes Horse that dresses are "more comfortable and easy than jeans and such a simple piece to throw on;" They're fun, and pretty, and girly, but tend to be spring/summer wear. The sweater dress, however, is a solution to this.

You can wear them with boots, heels, or flats, and with or without a jacket and tights. So versatile, practical and so stylish! Any suggestions as to where I should start looking?

Oooh, I love the first dress in the last picture. SERIOUSLY! The grey one withe te stripes? Honestly amazing :)

And yeah, you're right, some of those dresses DO look like tapestries-there's simply no other word for it! Talk to the wall, people!

Btw, you can totally do the book tag. I'd love it if you could do it. SO here you go-I tag you!

I dunno-- some of those "tapestry" dresses are really nice, and not just cause of the models.

Also, I'm glad you got the jealousy quote... sometimes I'm not sure whether I'm jealous or just pissed.

Or where the line lies.

But yeah, the first dress is the prettiest. =)

Do you remember the sweater dress that C.H. from Allen and Germany, wore too V.C-J's 18th bday party? That was a well nice dress, it was from Country Road, much like the rest of her wardrobe, maybe you could check out country road.

No I don't really remember it, but I'll be sure to check out Country Road, thanks. =)

I love that shock-pink dress. The cut could be a bit boring in any other colour, but the pink is so vibrant and lovely and it makes the dress stand out.

Don't you just adore the concept of sweater dresses? I have a grey one myself, and this weekend it was to hot to wear it, so I sadly bade goodbye to it for this year. However, today (and as predicted for the forthcoming week) it'll be freezing (like 10 degrees) so I suppose I'll have an excuse to whip it out again...which is always nice.

Point is: Global Warming Sucks.

I like the first one, too. I would totally where that. The other ones are a bit too retro for me.

Hey Diana,

Global Warming certainly is erratic. I totally blame it for the unseasonably hot weather we had at the start of March this Autumn, and the cold snap we had in the middle that should have waited until Winter. So indecisive, I say!

BTW: I notice you've member locked your blog. May I please be invited to read...?

Those two do look like tapestry's or scarves. This is what happens when big stores try to follow the tribal trend...they just don't get it right.

You mean you wouldn't make your rug into a dress?

I would totally invite you! However, this week is exams week and I figured that allowing comments and/or people to visit my blog would be too much of a temptation for me (I have no willpower - obviously...I've been checking out blogs all week) so it'll be available for all to see in about one week's time.
